Sorry!

It seems as though some people, with different views than mine, have decided to make comments on my blog concerning the religious beliefs that I hold. First off, to those readers that take time out of your busy life to visit my blog, I am sorry if you read any of those negative comments.

What I blog about is for me. It is for my family. It is for my friends. I have never asked anyone to follow or read my blog. If your beliefs are different than mine, that is great - keep your beliefs and I will keep mine.

It makes me very sad that there are mean people in this world.

Chrissy's bag!

One of the secretaries at my husband's office has a sister that is having a baby. Well, every new baby needs a cute diaper bag. Chrissy and I talked and looked at diaper bags and fabric for a while. Chrissy finally picked a style and fabric and I finished the bag and wanted to share it with you.
I think that this diaper bag turned out super cute!

I love the contrast of the fabric! Chrissy picked a Micheal Miller fabric for the exterior of the bag and an Amy Butler for the lining and contrast fabric. Super fun together!

The lining is happy and bright! There are 8 pockets on the exterior of the bag and 4 large interior pockets. There is also a removable shoulder strap and a key fob for momma's keys.

I added the removable bow at the end. I think it finishes the look of the bag.

And, finally on the bottom of the bag I added the silver stud feet to help protect the bottom of the bag.

There ya go Chrissy! I hope you like it! And, more importantly, I hope your sister loves it!

New Bunnies!

What a busy week! Crafty Girls crop is Saturday, so I am very busy getting ready for that. But, real quick I just wanted to show you a new set of bunnies I made for this Easter.
I love the new "in" color combo of yellow and grey!

If you remember last year, I made the set in pinks and browns
Still cute, but a totally different feel!
OK, back to work! Happy Friday!

Daughters in His Kingdom

Tonight I had the privilege of joining some friends and attend a 170th birthday celebration for the women's group of our church called the Relief Society. It was a very uplifting and motivating evening. There was a lot of preparation that went into putting this celebration on. Some of that prep work was done by my friend Stephanie - She is amazing when it comes to decorating. Anyway, last Sunday Stephanie asked if I would help her and make cake toppers for 30, 8" cakes. The cakes were the center pieces for each table. She gave me an invitation to go on.
So, as you can see, the colors were basically mocha and blue. The little flower is blue.
As all of you paper crafters know...CRAFTING IS MESSY!
Here the toppers starting to come together...
After two days of working on the toppers, I was done!
So, here is the topper sitting pretty on one of the cakes! Super fun, and really, super easy!

I have to give a big shout out for the Stampin Up's Big Shot die, Designer Rosette Big Z XL die! The die cut all of the brown base flowers! It did all the scoring for me so all I had to do was cut and fold!

Hoping you all are having a great weekend!

Oh Sew Lucky!

Well, I bit the bullet and decided to sew for you! I wanted to open an Etsy site for just my sewing a few years back, in 2009 in fact, but it just never happened! I opened the Etsy store back in 2009 and named it Oh Sew Lucky but I never listed anything! Then this blog, Crafty Girls Workshop, started up and I put Oh Sew Lucky on the back burner. I love the name Oh Sew Lucky, so I have decided to reopen that store and connect it with Crafty Girls Workshop. The store is officially open and I have a few things listed. I will be adding much more in the near future.

Here are a few bags that I listed today:

I truly enjoy to sew. I hope you enjoy looking around Oh Sew Lucky, and if there is anything you want sewn, hey, shoot me a line and I will see what I can do!

Have a great weekend!

Help! I've fallen, and I can't get up!

Ok, ok, so I didn't fall, but I can't sleep...so how about I say, "Help! I've gone to bed, and I can't sleep!" That is exactly how I feel tonight (or this morning). I rolled over to talk to my husband a bit, but he was totally out, snoring and all. So, I decided to get up and sew.

Some of you know that for Christmas my husband bought me a new embroidery machine and I couldn't be happier! Here it is March and I have yet to pull the embroidery unit out of the box. Shame! But, I have been using it as a sewing machine, and I LOVE this machinne!

This machine is a bit larger than my old machine, therefore the dust cover from the old machine would not work for my new machine. I have had an idea in my head for quite some time on what style dust cover I wanted.
So, tonight (this morning) I decided to make the dust cover for my new sewing machine. I started out by making some plans on a piece of paper.
I then started cutting fabric according to the measurements. Once the pieces for the cover were cut, I did add fleece interfacing to the wrong side of the fabric to help give the cover some shape.
I am using a natural cotton for the main fabric, then three strips of different fabric for the ruffles.
When I laid this out on the table, I thought it would make a really cute summer skirt! Hmmmm, inspiration,...

I added piping around the two ends of the cover and a big red flower to the front (I am not sure I like the flower, so I just pinned it there for now)

And, here is the finished cover!

I have to say, I really like how the red piping pops off of the natural cotton.
So, there you have it. I like it. And, now I don't have to worry about getting any of the desert dust on my new machine!

Happy Friday....off to bed for a few minutes! ;)

Quiltique Contest!

So, one of our local quilt shops called Quiltique is hosting the "2012 Bag Challenge" and I decided to enter! The way the contest works is like this...I had to pick the bag pattern from about 20 white envelopes. Each envelope contained a pattern. The only thing that was on the envelope was the supply list. So, I had no idea what the bag looked like when I chose the envelope. The contest is divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced patterns. Because I did not know what the pattern looked like, I played it safe and picked from the intermediate batch. When I opened the envelope, I was so happy! I really liked the bag! I finished the bag this past weekend, but I may make another one with bolder colors. So, here is the bag...
A cute little backpack!

There is a pocket with a magnetic snap pocket on the front of the bag.

The inside has a single pocket.

The pattern that I picked is from Two Peas in a Pod Designs and the pattern is called the St Mary Backpack.

I never use a pattern, and for this contest, I had to follow the pattern just as it was written. For me, this was very hard. I have been sewing so long that to do a simple step a different way was a challenge for me! Like I said, I may do another bag in bolder colors, but I do like this bag too. The bag is due back to Quiltique by March 30th and voting begins April 1. So, if you happen to be in Vegas during the month of April, I would love your vote!

Happy Sewing!
