Time for Christmas Crafting!

It's official...time to break out all the craft supplies for some fun Christmas decorations! Today I made a couple of Christmas decorations and wanted to share one of them with you.
Snowman and Mitten Garland
Like I did with my Give Thanks banner, I used a wood base for the mittens.
Very playful snowmen at each end of the banner
I need (want) a new camera so bad, this one just isn't cutting it for taking pictures! The center of each mitten has a silver doily and there is glitter galore on the mittens, but you just can't see the glitter, bummer.
Then snowmen crack me up!
I love the white glittery garland on each of the mittens too.
Well, I am sure that this is the first of many Christmas crafts that I will work on this year!

Happy Friday!

Sneak Peak...

While I am still in the mood for fall decorating, I decided it was time to change up the UGLY pillows that came with our couches that we bought three years ago. I never liked them! I loved the golden tan color of the couches, and I knew that I could change up the pillows.

Here are the original pillows~
See, told ya...UGLY!

So, after three years of looking at these pillows, this morning I made up two to replace. I have to make 8 total, two at each end for two couches.

Here is the replacements....
I love them!!!!! I love both fabrics so much!
I used brown wool for the cute brown one. LOVE LOVE LOVE the ruffles! My dilemma with this pillow, I need to make three more brown ones, so do I do all of them the same as this one, or make all the brown ones different? I don't know.
I am going to make one more big pillow for behind these two, I just haven't decided on a fabric yet for that.

I was just so excited about this change that I had to share!

Happy Friday!

Give Thanks Banner!

I know that the fall season has just started, but...oh how I wish that the fall season would last longer! I love to decorate our home with the fall colors. So, this last week I made a decoration for our home....
I love the addition of a new "GIVE THANKS" Banner!

I decided that I wanted to make the banner using a hard backing on it so that it would store away easy and not ruin. Sometimes paper crafts get ruined while being stored.
So, I asked my dad to cut out each pennant of the banner with 1/4 inch backing board. (Not too sure if that is what it is called, but it is super smooth and super strong and works great!)
I started to collect the embellishments that I thought I wanted to use. I was not too sure where I was going with the idea, but I knew I wanted both paper and felt on the banner.
Here is what it is looking like with the paper layered up on it. I love the doily for the center!
I used gold glitter paper for the letters. Trust me, the glitter is there!
The banner would have been way too long if I used the word GIVE as well, so the word GIVE is on a small pennant on the "T" pennant.
I love the bird punch from Stampin Up!
And, here is the felt...I love this flower! I also used felt under each letter between the doily and the blue fan fold paper flower.
I connected all the pennants together with brown w/ glitter tulle. I love this banner! I am truly grateful for this season.

Crafty Girls Weekend Retreat!

I know, I know, I hate it too. When you go to a blog and the owner of the blog does not update in FOREVER!!! I am so sorry! I was so busy getting ready for the cabin retreat, then as soon as that was over, I hit the road again with my daughter to check out a college...2 states away! As you may remember, Crafty Girls hit the road and held a weekend scrapbook retreat in Zion National Park in southern Utah.

So, all these Crafty Girls headed here....

This cabin was amazing! If you think this looks good in the picture, you should see it in person!

Ok, so here are the pictures....

To get to the cabin we drove through Zion National Park
The cabin was on the other side of this fantastic mountain and the only way to get there was.....
a very scary tunnel! The tunnel was very narrow and VERY dark! In the end, it was totally worth it!

The crop room in the cabin was in a finished basement area. When the Crafty Girls went downstairs they were greeted with the door prize!
The bag is much bigger in real life! It was made for scrapping, able to hold a lot of what you would bring to a crop.
I am sure a few cavities were born this weekend!

My favorite game of the weekend was the "Guess who the Baby is" game. It was so fun to see all these great ladies as babies!

Here is the view of the crop room before everyone arrived.

The first day's lunch was a cute brown bag lunch
This cabin is literally at the top of the mountain. This is the view on the deck.

Scrapping away!

To be honest, we could have opened a retail shop with all of the supplies that were there!

You would never know everyone had their own 5.5 foot table!

Thank you ladies for making the weekend great!

Thanks Mom for coming the cabin and helping out!

But, most of all, I want to thank my dear friend, Barb. Barb and I decided to do this on a whim back in July...and at times, we thought we were nuts! In the end, we both agree, all the time and energy we put into this weekend, was worth every minute!

Now, time to get ready for the next Crafty Girls day crop...tomorrow!

Happy Friday!

Halloween Welcome!

Let the fall decorating begin!!! My favorite season is definitely fall. And, living in Vegas, the only way that fall enters the area is by the decorating that goes on inside our homes. Heaven knows it looks like summer here all year round!

So, I wanted to share with you a super cute welcome sign that I made to welcome the new season!
I wish you all could see this in person, because it is super cute! The black boots are done is a swirl glittered patter that you can't quite see in the picture. The plaque and the legs are made out of wood, and the legs dangle so cute! There are two layers of tulle to create the skirt effect.

I got the idea from Lemon Tree Creations and here is their version:
I think that they are both stinking cute!

So, WELCOME Fall and WELCOME Halloween!

The Bag that got my Finger!!!

No, this bag did not make me give someone the bird...instead, while making this bag I cut the tip of my finger off! YUK! No, I am not going to show pictures of my finger, but let's just say, blood, lots of blood!

OK, enough gross stuff...here is the diaper bag that I made up tonight.
I really love this diaper bag. The gal that ordered this bag has ordered a few bags from me, and I really love to create for her. She requested a pink/brown combo and I think I hit the nail on the head!
On each side of the bag, I put these Little gadget pockets. It is the perfect size for a pacifier or a phone.
I might have to say that the back of the bag might be my favorite part! I was inspired by a pair of jeans to put these two pockets on the "backside" of the bag.
Each pocket has a pearl snap to secure it.
I went with a soft pink fabric for the lining.
There is a zipper pocket and three pockets of each side of the interior of the bag. A total of 7 pockets on the inside and 4 pockets on the exterior of the bag. There is also a key fob that attaches on the inside that you can't see in the picture.
I am not sold on the flower yet...not sure that I am going to keep it on the bag! I am also making a matching diaper/wet wipe/changing pad bag that will go on the inside of the bag.

The gal that ordered this bag just requested pink/brown, and let me pick the fabric. So, just in case she doesn't like this combo, I am making up a second bag with a totally different pink/brown look to it...so stay tuned! I will show you that bag soon!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
